Encourage one another and build one another up.       I Thessalonians 5:11

Each day, the morning comes, and with it another opportunity to encourage one another and build one another up.

Rise up in the morning to greet the new day saying, “This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  With that perspective and direction set for the day, it is amazing the amount of blessing that can be experienced.  Within those first few moments of the day, we set a tone for how everything else will be experienced.

In our household, I have eight opportunities to try and get that right each morning (I include our dog Guido).

Eight wonderful opportunities to encourage before I even place a foot outside our front door or log on to the world wide web for the day.  Each and every connection an opportunity for encouragement.  In our connected world, that is a whole lot of opportunity in which to bless.

When nightfall comes, weary and tired bodies, minds and souls fall into bed to rest.  Before the eyes closing, a smile upon the face of those who have blessed and upon those receiving the blessings.

Lights out.  Those moments of encouragement from the previous day still doing their good work.

I shared with you the song Imagine in our worship last weekend.  I wanted to share those words in print as another form of ongoing encouragement for our collective work together as the church on earth.  I smile when I imagine the Holy Spirit leading, guiding, encouraging, and nudging us forward.

For God so loved a broken world that cannot love within
On us God’s saving light shines, to us a light too dim
We know the truth will set us free, our lives have been redeemed
If only not in bondage to a world of need and greed
The full are fed, the rich receive while children die of hunger
If “little ones to him belong,” then why must they then suffer?
Lies disguise identity and give us more to hide
But as we share abundantly, new life shall God provide

Imagine a hope, imagine a dream,
Imagine a love that is shared endlessly
Imagine good news of love and relief
For all those enslaved by need or by grief
Imagine a world where all are set free
Imagine the world learning of God’s great love and care
For those who walk in darkness and wallow in despair
God’s children called, inspired by God’s great commission
“Heal the sick and feed the poor,” for all are one in mission

Imagine God’s great vision, to us his son he gave
For all the lost and grieving would know his power to save.
Imagine the Lord wiping tears from every face
Never more to suffer shame, despair, disgrace

Free from injustice, free from fear
To freely serve both far and near
Free to care for the lost and the least
Free for all to share in God’s feast
Now go live the hope, go live the dream
Go be the love that is shared endlessly
Go be the good news of love and relief
For all those enslaved by need or by grief
Go serve a world where all are set free

Peace and hope for the encouraging words that you will share on this day and in the days to come.
